What is an Air Source Heat Pump?
Air source heat pumps transfer heat from the outside air into water. This heat is absorbed into a fluid, which passes through a heat exchanger to increase its temperature. In turn, this heat is transferred to water and used to power radiators and underfloor heating. It can also be used to heat water which is stored in a hot water cylinder for taps, showers, and baths.
Where is the Air Source Heat Pump Installed?
As air source heat pumps draw heat from the outside air, you will need a space outside your home where the unit can be installed. The unit can either be fitted to a wall or placed on the ground, but needs space around it to ensure sufficient air flow.
